A South Carolina Taco Bell employee is behind bars after she was caught photographing customers' credit cards and then using the numbers to make online purchases, police say.
Laguawanda Hawkins, who worked at a Hartsville Taco Bell, was "so brazen and slick about it that she even does it while the manager is right behind her stocking shelves," her arrest report reads. Police discovered the thefts after receiving several reports of credit card fraud -- and realized all of the victims had dined at the same Taco Bell, Hartsville police say. Investigators then checked the restaurant's surveillance video, which showed Hawkins taking pictures of credit cards before returning them to customers.
Hawkins, who reportedly explained her actions by telling police she needed money for bills, is facing four counts each of credit card theft, financial identity fraud and fraudulently receiving goods or services, police say.
