Former South Carolina Governor Beat President Trump & Biden For Nobel Prize

Last week Joe Biden was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. President Trump had several Nobel Peace Prize nominations for his role in helping to restore relations in the middle east. This morning the world waited in anticipation to see who get it. Neither! Instead it went to The United Nations' World Food Program. Former South Carolina governor David Beasley is head of the organization and is thrilled they will be gifted over one million dollars as part of the prize.

The World Food Program provides food to over 90-million people each year. The Nobel committee said it awarded the peace prize to the WFP for its efforts to combat hunger, its contribution to "bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas," and for its efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict.

In announcing the prize, the chair of the Nobel committee said the coronavirus pandemic has "contributed to a strong upsurge in the number of victims of hunger in the world," and that the World Food Program has "demonstrated an impressive ability to intensify its efforts" during the pandemic.
