When it comes to obesity, South Carolina ranks among the top 15 states

According the the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 7 in 10 Americans over the age of 20 are either overweight or obese. Rates for obesity are lower for adolescents and children, but have risen over the past few decades. Last year, US weight loss industry was valued at $72B. Americans spend almost $200 billion in annual healthcare expenses associated with obesity.

WalletHub released the Fatttest States in America, and South Carolina ranks #13 on the list. South Carolina was 4th highest percentage of overweight children.

The fattest state in the U.S. was Mississippi. Utah was the state with the lowest rates in obesity and health consequences associated with obesity.
