Breaking: Police investigating threat at South Florence High School

Update: Students have returned to class as of the 9AM hour, and school has been deemed safe.

Police are investigating a threat made on social media against South Florence High School.

According to Dr. Richard O'Malley, students have been moved to the gym, as police investigate, until authorities issue an 'all clear'.

O’Malley released the following statement via email:

“We were notified by Florence Police that there was a threat posted on social media. We are currently locating students and school personnel in the gym. Law enforcement is in charge. We will notify you as soon as law enforcement says we are all clear.

According to Florence County Sheriff's Office, Chief Deputy, Glen Kirby, authorities have the person in custody that made the threat. Law enforcement will remain on site, just to be safe.
