Carolina Havoc announce new coach

Havoc

Florence, South Carolina  Carolina Havoc General Manager Steven Smith and the team’s ownership have announced the team’s new Head Coach and finalization of it’s league affiliation. Former Havoc defensive lineman Anson Yarborough was named the team’s third Head Coach. Yarborough, a native of Darlington, South Carolina, moves into his new role after spending the previous 10 seasons as a player and the last three as Defensive Coordinator for Scotland County High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Coach Yarborough played collegiately at the University of South Carolina from 2005 to 2008 and was a member of the last Gamecock team to defeat Alabama at Williams-Brice in Columbia.

After a brief stint with the Baltimore Ravens, Anson came home to Florence to play for the AIFA’s Florence Phantoms. He was a part of the Phantoms’ 2008 championship team and championship teams with the Fayetteville Force, Cape Fear Heroes and the Havoc last season in Atlanta. As a player, he garnered first team or all-league selections three times, lead two different leagues in sacks, and was a 2018 AAL All-Star.

Additionally, the Havoc also announced that it has finalized it’s 2019 membership with the American Arena League. “Playing in the AAL will allow our fans the opportunity to follow their Havoc all season long,” General ManagerSmith said. “With the AAL serving the Atlantic southeast, we feel that from a geographic standpoint, the AAL was a natural fit. Not only will our fans be able to travel to our road games, but our opponents’ will as well. We want the fans of the AAL to come and enjoy what Florence and the Pee Dee have to offer. By playing our home games in The Den, the convenient location of the arena will allow fans from not only across the AAL but from throughout the Palmetto State to come and experience the Havoc in action.”

The Havoc will play seven home games starting in March at the Florence Center in Florence, South Carolina. All home games start at 7:05 p.m. and season tickets start as low as $70 for the season. The team is now taking 25 percent deposits on season tickets. To become part of The Pride and be in The Den for the 2019 season, visit www.carolinahavocfootball.com or call (843) 603-1743.
