10AM Update - Snow chances for Wednesday, Jan 3, 2018

According to Ed Piotrowski at WPDE ABC 15-

TUESDAY 10AM - a WINTER STORM WATCH is in effect Wednesday and Wednesday night for all areas along and east of I-95 to the coast. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are all possible and there will be accumulations of snow and freezing rain.

Precipitation will likely begin by later morning and become more widespread and heavier through the afternoon and into the evening. Everything will end near midnight.

As I stressed in my post last night, the exact track ultimately determines who gets what and how much.

A track closer to the coast would push more accumulating snow west of I-95 while the coast would see snow, but also periods of sleet and freezing rain which would really cut down on any snow accumulations.

A track farther off shore would keep cold air locked in with accumulating snow mainly east of I-95 to the coast. Even along the coast there could still be some freezing rain and sleet mixing in.

New forecast models will arrive by early afternoon. I’ll have an update then and again LIVE on Facebook at 8pm. Don’t forget you can always catch me live on ABC-15 News at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm!
