Lady Gaga Reacts To Japanese Fan's 'Rain On Me' Parody Video

A Lady Gaga fan recreated her “Rain On Me” music video, and it's Mother Monster-approved!

The superstar sent a special shoutout to a fan who remade her iconic visual featuring Ariana Grande. A few weeks ago, the Japan-based YouTube channel, NAOMI CLUB, made a parody of the song and mimicked the entire music video down to the last detail, including similar costumes, backdrops, and visual effects a la the pop stars’ original concept, which premiered two months ago.

The mastermind behind the remake is Japanese actress-comedian Naomi Watanabe, who rose to stardom in 2008 for her famous Beyonce impressions, thus dubbing her the “the Japanese Beyonce” by her fans.

Watanabe’s clip, which has garnered more than 9 million views on YouTube since it premiered July 25, eventually found its way to the Chromatica singer herself, who had the best reaction to the video.

“Love this!!! @watanabe_naomi,” the Grammy-winning songbird gushed on Twitter with a clip of the parody, to which Watanabe responded, “GAGA … I LOVE YOU.”

Fellow Japanese funnywoman Yuriyan Retriever also appears in the visual to perform the part of Grande — choreography, singing and all — while the pair remained socially-distanced with a wall between the two entertainers as they danced in the rain.

Speaking to Billboard about the hilarious project, Watanabe said, "I sensed that the way to make this as funny as possible would be to do it as precisely as I could. I love impersonating people, so I was meticulous about the details. As my personal project, this parody music video captures my effort to perfect the quality of a single impersonation."
