Florence One School Board member Rev. E.J. McIver has been arrested Thursday morning on allegations of misconduct in office and embezzlement, according to Chief Deputy Glen Kirby with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
Kirby said deputies arrested McIver at a home in Goose Creek. His arrest follows an extensive investigation by the sheriff’s office.
“Sheriff Billy Barnes and myself have a zero tolerance for public corruption,” said Kirby.
McIver has been on the school board for more than 10 years. His term expires in 2022. The district’s website list his line of work as an educational consultant.
