On Saturday night (January 19), Greta Van Fleet made their Saturday Night Live debut. The rockers helped kick off the show's first episode of the new year with host Rachel Brosnahan from Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The classic rock revivalists treated the Studio 8H audience to performances of their Grammy-nominated song "Black Smoke Rising" off their 2017 EP of the same name, and Anthem of the Peaceful Army single "You're the One."
While guitarist Jake Kiszka, bassist Sam Kiszka, and drummer Danny Wagner performed with energy and enthusiasm, vocalist Josh Kiszka seemed a little tense, choosing to stay relatively stationary as he sang. Though his stage presence could use some work, his vocals were spot on as he wailed with a Robert Plant-esque cadence.
Check out their performances below.
During "Weekend Update," Colin Jost teased Greta Van Fleet.
“Sunday night will bring a Super Blood Wolf Moon," he said, "which is a rare lunar eclipse, and not, as I had assumed, the name of the band that just performed on our show!”
The segment also saw Pete Davidson address his mental health struggles alongside comedian John Mulaney after giving the world quite the scare last month when he shared an alarming post on social media.
