Florence County Emergency Management has ordered mandatory evacuations for people living in areas along Lynches River. Friday, Florence County Sheriff’s deputies went going door to door alerting people.
The river is already starting to flood into street and yards on North Jones Road at Starburst Road. An entire field is covered in water. Some residents appear to be heeding evacuation orders, but some aren’t. They said they’ve been through Major flooding events during the historic flood of 2015 and hurricane Matthew into thousand 16 and are prepared. They tell us they think county emergency managers are being overly cautious with mandatory evacuations.
