I Tried The New Wing Restaurant On Irby Street

There's a new wing restaurant in town at the old Revival burger spot, 846 S Irby Street, called BTJ wings. Everybody has been asking me if I've tried it yet, and I finally got to go with some friends last night.

We all agreed that we liked it. The food and portions are good, the prices are reasonable, and we will definitely be back. The whole time we were there, between 630pm and 8pm on a Monday night, the place stayed busy.

I personally got a 10 piece wings with fries, hot teriyaki flavor, which cost $8.99, plus tax. At the big wing chain restaurant across town, you wouldn't even get the wings for that price, much less the added fries. At first, I didn't think the wings were that hot spice wise, but a few wings in and my lips were tingling a bit so it just took a few minutes to set it. My wings were fried crispy like I like them, and the teriyaki flavor was very good but not the best I've ever had. I'll probably try a different flavor the next time I go, but there will definitely be a next time.

My friends got the honey garlic pepper, lemon pepper, and teriyaki-- all of which were universally liked.

I also tried a bite of the philly cheese steak and liked it. There aren't too many place around here that serve phillies, so I'm happy to have the option.

We all got crinkle fries, which were fried perfect and served piping hot.

You have a choice of ranch, blue cheese, or honey mustard as your dipping sauce. Also, near the napkins and straws they have shakers of seasoned salt and lemon pepper, and bottled hot sauce if you want to spice things up. Even though we dined in, everything we got was served in standard white to-go containers, which made it convenient for a few at the table who had leftovers.

There were a few drawbacks-- they don't serve celery or carrots with the wings, and the atmosphere is a bit stark. At the time we went, the drive through was not operational. I asked the lady behind the counter if they had plans to open it, and she didn't know so I don't think that will happen anytime soon.

My final say is that the prices are very reasonable and I think that it makes the few drawbacks worth it.

I've posted a copy of their flier so you can see their whole menu.
