Former Florence Sheriff, Kenney Boone sentenced, following guilty plea.

Former Florence County Sheriff, Kenney Boone pleaded guilty today to charges of misconduct in office, embezzlement, and campaign ethics violations. Boone also agreed to pay $16,000 in restitution to the state. The guilty plea was entered without a recommendation from the state.

According to WPDE Reporter, Tonya Brown:

Boone spent thousands on gifts for his wife. Boone apologized to his family, FCSO and the citizens of Florence County. He says he accepts full responsibility for what he did.

Kenney Boone was sentenced to 5 years in prison, which was suspended to time served. Boone faces five years probation, and must pay back almost $17,000. Boone is also ordered to undergo mental health treatment and substance abuse counseling.
