The first time Popeye's tried to bring us their chicken sandwich it sold out nationwide in two weeks and we haven't had a sniff of one since. Popeye's was not prepared for the huge demand, which was ironically boosted when their competitor Chik-fil-a started twitter beef over whose chicken was better.
The good news is that the Popeye's Chicken Sandwich is back, available this Sunday November 3rd. The even better news is that Popeyes is bringing the shade. Notice that the release date is on a Sunday? Sunday, a day that Chik-fil-a is notoriously closed for business. They even poke fun at it in their marketing.
One look at the line in the drive thru shows that Chik-fil-a is a monster in the chicken business, they are well-loved and I don't think that will change anytime soon, but healthy competition is always a good thing. Both businesses have had to step up their game during these sandwich wars, regardless of which one you think has the better product. As for me, I'm looking forward to finally trying Popeye's sandwich because they were sold out long before I ever got around to trying one last time. I hope it's worth the wait.
