In honor of race week, we thought it would be fun to rank 3 of the all-time great car movies. Here are the ones to choose from:
Just about everyone around these parts has a story about when Days of Thunder filmed here. Everyone, everywhere knows the iconic line-- "Rubbin, son, is racing." Another standout scene is when Cole and Rowdy can't help but race each other in their rental cars and return them steaming and banged up. Great movie.
Who hasn't said a prayer to the Dear Lord Baby Jesus? Or, as we say in the south, Hay-Suss. Who hasn't screamed out "Shake and Bake!" when amongst friends? Who hasn't told someone, "If you ain't first, your last?" The quotes are non-stop from Talladega Nights and it lives forever in infamy.
Gone in 60 Seconds is the dark horse contender here because it's not a NASCAR film, but it's got one of the all time great car chase scenes and Robert Duvall is in it, just like he was in Days of Thunder. It's got Nick Cage and Angelina Jolie in the same movie, and there are some genuine laugh out loud moments.
It's hard to rank them, but here's our order.
