Gotten Any Strange Texts Lately? You're Not Crazy, There Was a Tech Glitch!

If you got strange or unexplained text messages this past week, you're not alone. It happened across the country, to both Android and iPhone users, across all major carriers including Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and ATT. Enough people reported it happening that officials looked into it. It's not SPAM, it's not ghosts, it was a glitch that caused messages sent months ago, some from VALENTINE'S DAY, to finally be delivered today.

According to the Verve.com

At fault seems to be a system that multiple cell carriers use for messaging. A Sprint spokesperson said a “maintenance update” ... caused the error. “The issue was resolved not long after it occurred,” the spokesperson said. “We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”
T-Mobile blamed the issue on a “third party vendor.” It didn’t clarify what company that was or what service they provided. “We’re aware of this and it is resolved,” a T-Mobile spokesperson said.

Some people reported that texts got sent to bosses or clients in the middle of the night and made for some awkward situations. Obviously this situation created confusion among friends, and some said that finding out they weren't ignored on Valentine's Day would've stopped them from ending relationships. One person posted online that they got a text from a girlfriend that had since died!

Can you imagine?! On first thought, this would seem like a harmless little thing, but if you really think about the implications, it's just unacceptable! Especially for people that already have trust issues, how can we ever trust anything ever again???
